Financial Tools You can Use!

Many people have asked – what is the best tool to use to keep track of my finances?  My answer is simply…the one that fits you best.

Keep It Simple

The late Larry Burkett, co-founder of Crown Financial Ministries, used to keep finances with pen and paper – and he was one of the wisest men I ever met!  Others do very well using a spreadsheet, while some people use Quicken or Mint or something on their phone.  (I’m not paid by any of those companies, by the way).  My personal tools of choice are a combination of Quicken and a spreadsheet.  But not everyone is as big a nerd about financial details as I am.  Sometimes the simpler the method, the better you will do versus trying to learn a very sophisticated program and getting frustrated with it.

Biblical Guidance

Proverbs 27:23 tells us to know well the conditions of our flocks and pay careful attention to our herds.  Most of us in this day and age are not farmers, so how do we apply that verse and what are we to keep track of?  Our assets (home, cash, checkbook, savings and retirement plans, just to name a few things).
